Need someone to talk to in a non-crisis situation? Peer support lines and warmlines commonly provide confidential, non-clinical support for people facing substance use or mental health challenges — as well as their loved ones. Most are free; some may charge a small fee. Depending on the line, support may come from Certified Peer Recovery Specialists, people with ived experience, or community volunteers.
While these warmlines and services are based in specific cities or states, many welcome calls from anywhere and offer virtual support. If they can’t assist directly, they’ll often connect you with another resource. Don’t hesitate to reach out, even if it’s anonymously.
RECOVERY COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS (RCOs)+ are among the strongest and most trusted sources of peer support that are accessible by phone. And RECOVERY SUPPORT GROUPS often have their own peer lines, helplines, or hotlines.
While offering compassion, encouragement, and referrals to helpful resources, peer warmline services are not a replacement for therapy, medical treatment, or other professional care.
