The Mission
American Rehab’s mission is to educate and connect people with practical resources that support treatment and recovery. This includes individuals facing substance use challenges, family and friends who want to help, and professionals working across the recovery field. American Rehab serves as a resource platform and does not provide recovery services directly.
The Reality of Recovery
Recovery isn’t a one-size-fits-all proposition. It never has been. What works for one person may not work for another. Individualized approaches should align with each person’s needs.
Why Many Don’t Get the Help They Need
More than 45 million people in the United States live with substance use disorder, and only about 15% receive the help they need. Barriers to recovery include cost, lack of insurance, stigma, limited access to care, fear of judgment, lack of quality treatment, and uncertainty about whether help is needed.
A Nationwide Recovery Resource Network
American Rehab is a free-to-use recovery resource network that brings multiple pathways to recovery together in one place. By increasing awareness of available options, it helps reduce some of the barriers that prevent people from getting help. Many resources are available at no cost, low cost, or covered by insurance.
The Focused Search
Well-intentioned online searches for help, often under great duress, can quickly lead to confusion and waste valuable time and energy. American Rehab brings a search into focus by placing relevant options side by side and avoiding misleading, unethical, and profit-driven websites whenever possible.
Connection
Addiction is isolating. It’s a condition few can navigate alone. Human connection is essential to recovery, and one connection often leads to another.
A Way Forward
There is more than one way to move forward in recovery. Some people begin with a helpline, a recovery support group, treatment, a peer recovery specialist, a crisis center, or recovery housing. Others connect through harm reduction services, an emergency room, a recovery community organization, or other options that open the door to connection. Recovery often involves a combination of supports working together over time, referred to as wraparound services.
Telehealth & Virtual Options
Telehealth and virtual options have expanded access to recovery support. They can be especially helpful for people in rural areas, those without transportation, or anyone who prefers more privacy.
Never Give Up
For those facing substance use challenges, the more you reach out and explore, the greater the chance that you’ll find what works for you. Even if you’ve tried before, perhaps many times, never give up. Recovery isn’t always a straight line. There are dedicated people who care and are ready to help in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
Resources for Family & Friends
American Rehab is for family members and friends who want to help a loved one but don’t know how, or who need support themselves because navigating addiction and recovery can be overwhelming. Support options exist, and American Rehab makes them easy to find.
Resources for Professionals
American Rehab is for professionals — clinicians, peer recovery specialists, case managers, drug court personnel, and more. While they are resources themselves, they often need additional support options for those they serve. American Rehab helps professionals spend less time searching and more time helping.
